We back and we back and we back and we back and we back.

Leaha Crawford 0:44
Ooh, I'm good, hey, hey, hey, it is tax season. I'm the only one that's excited because it's tax season. Yes, and I can say for more information if you are looking No, just, just for more information, 702-382-5737 again, 702-382-5737, because we're doing something different this year. What are you gonna do? We're actually want to take our clients, and while they're there, we're going to give them a tax plan. Okay, so not only do the tax return, but give them a tax plan that go, you know, so that they have just something they can read at their leisure. That's not, you know, just just a tax form, but to talk about, you know, just the things we talked about in the meeting, yeah, things that they can do differently and just have a good conversation. Just add a little bit more seasoning to the service.

Julian Rosado 1:34
That's all. The only tax form. Every time I'm there, customers come in. Hey, how you doing? Is Leah here, like, no, no, she's not well, I'll come back. Well, the

Leaha Crawford 1:44
thing is honest. But no, they do that with Brenda too, because they look for Brenda Lee, I don't wanna talk to you. Where's Brenda? Over there? Well, what I love is because we take the angst out. Yeah. So even if you haven't, like, you have back returns, you haven't filed, and different things, you know, just have stuff. We take the angst out of it, and we break it down, get you to a place where you're comfortable, then we can think through it, talk through it, and come up with a solution. You know, that's what I love about what I do, and not only what I do, how I do it, and because it's my firm, I can organically change things that need to be changed and grow it? Well, it has grown organically. But again, our number 702-382-5737, again, 702-382-5737, and tell welcome Valentina to our team, and just tell her Hello. Hello. Just say Hello, Valentina. Hello, Valentina. All right, so today y'all, we have a very special guest. Oh, let's talk about the football games real quick before we go. Did you see that

Julian Rosado 2:44
it was a catch? It was a catch. It was looking like it's not, it's a catch, whatever. When a receiver catches the ball and the knee touches the ground and it's a catch, yeah, it's a catch. It doesn't matter, San

Leaha Crawford 2:55
Francisco didn't show up for that game. Oh, yeah, no, you said that, right. Okay, so I will be watching this weekend, and it's so funny. I have friends from Seattle, and I'm like, All right, I know out, you know, hey, I'll join the bandwagon.

Julian Rosado 3:08
I'm going Seahawks, Seahawks. I'm going Seahawks.

Leaha Crawford 3:13
I'm going Seahawks. I am, I am, I'm going Seahawks because my Texans got knocked out.

Julian Rosado 3:18
Oh yeah, you saw that game? I watched

Leaha Crawford 3:22
all the games. I was in front of the TV and I was in front of the TV at one, I went to Mariposa and watched some games.

Julian Rosado 3:28
Yeah, I never heard of four interceptions before halftime. I've heard that for a while, four picks before halftime, before halftime. I was like, man, yeah, I would have benched him. I if I was a head coach, I seriously, honestly

Leaha Crawford 3:43
looking at it from a different lens now, because the just, just looking at it, and somebody was like, Lee, you act like you got money on the game. I was like, No, I'm not betting. I'm just into seeing just how strategically they move, yeah, and how the last two minutes of the game is the best part of the game in some instances, except for the Seattle game. But it just watching. And I've even watched Miami and Indiana on Monday,

Julian Rosado 4:07
University of Miami. Oh, university. Oh

Leaha Crawford 4:11
yeah, watch that on Monday. Yeah. I'm just, I'm back in the sports. I love it. Basketball season picks up next.

Julian Rosado 4:16
She knows more than me because I was watching.

Leaha Crawford 4:21
And I love football though. All right. Well, we have a guest in the studio with us, and Miss Shanika. Hi, good morning. That's cutesy boutique y'all. So welcome back to the

Sheneka Gunn 4:34
show. Thank you. Thank you so much for this opportunity,

Leaha Crawford 4:37
you know. And I want to say thank you. Thank you for accepting our invitation and reintroduce yourself to our listeners.

Sheneka Gunn 4:43
Hello, everyone. I'm Shanika from one cutie boutique and fashions and design. I am honored to be here to give you a little something about what's going on in my world. Okay, so, Shanika, where you from? I am from Texas. What part of Texas I'm from Lubbock, Texas. Girl. Lubbock, Texas, howdy. Oh, how long you been in Vegas? I've been in Vegas about 25 years now. So my husband always say, You're from Vegas. I say I still have that southern girl mentality

Julian Rosado 5:12
that doesn't break.

Leaha Crawford 5:19
So, cutie boutique, yes, you're you guys are located on Rancho

Sheneka Gunn 5:24
Yes, ma'am, I'm located at 4611 North Rancho drive, and you've been there for some time now, yes, since

Leaha Crawford 5:30
2018 this 2018 All right, so let's talk. Why fashion.

Sheneka Gunn 5:35
Well, it's an everyday thing. You know, it's essential. You know, when covid came in, it was like, this is not essential. Yes, fashion is essential, because you have to put on clothes every day. So I like to say I bring something special to all of my customers and consumers, to take them out of that black and bring them into uniqueness. So I'm really just involved in fashions and creating some designs of my own,

Leaha Crawford 6:01
creating some designs of your own. Yes, how hard is that? Creating designs of your own?

Sheneka Gunn 6:06
It's challenging, but you have to get with the right people. And number one, I'm a believer in the Lord, and he always directs my path, so he connects me to certain people, that helps me open those doors. And it's, it's costly, it's very you have to have some money, and you got to have some people who know not to send you down those wrong paths, because everybody's trying to come up.

Julian Rosado 6:30
What type of clothing is a leisure wear, more professional wear?

Sheneka Gunn 6:34
It's all, all type of fashions, couture. I like to bring uniqueness, especially for the plus size clients, because everybody don't like to wear stripes and flowers,

Leaha Crawford 6:47
not stripes and flowers. Well, I like that, though, because a lot of times the plus size woman is in the fashion world is, I mean, I look at some stuff like, yeah, that's cute 20 years ago, but you still want to be cute and all the things, yes, in your clothes, you don't necessarily want to put on a sheet when

Sheneka Gunn 7:08
you go outside that part, right? Yes. And as I attend the conventions, I this has been working for several years, as if you noticed the fashion industry, they were stalling for a while to bring plus size into the equation. And me and other designers, we're going and hitting a payment like you have to provide clothing for plus size. And so as I attend the clothing conventions, that's where we're talking to these designers. Yo, look, people need fashion in I don't hate on the petite women, but no, they got it all figured out, right, you know, and so now that's why you starting to see a little more risque, and the design is bringing out more plus size, right? But when you look good, you feel good, that's right? And it's something about a material that brings a smile to someone, you know, someone could be having a bad day, and just by them coming into the boutique or even ordering online, trying on some clothes can actually make you feel amazing,

Leaha Crawford 8:07
because you can look good no matter what size you are, no matter what size just got to buy. What suits your size,

Sheneka Gunn 8:13
and it's within you know, I like to tell a lot of my customers, they be like, Oh, thank you. Thank you. I said I provide the clothes. It's you. It's you. Once you put the clothing on your body, and it creates a confidence and an atmosphere for you, and then you have to know where you're going. First of all, that's why I always like to know when, what is, what are, what am I dressing you for? That's right, what am I dressing you for? I need to know what's let

Leaha Crawford 8:37
me ask you this, do you encourage your clients to wear undergarments.

Sheneka Gunn 8:41
Yes, okay, that's a must, because sometimes, as a curvy woman, you don't want all those things to be showing and so just to give the illusion the smoothness, that's right, you know, I'm not gonna I, of course, I want to make the money, but I want you to come back, and I want you to come back to say, You know what, I trusted her, and she had me looking fabulous. You know, sometimes we go in the bathroom, we have those little dents and stuff. But when she when I present the person with the clothing, they be like, I don't see it, it's because I recommend those things, undergarments.

Leaha Crawford 9:12
And so what would you suggest? Would you suggest a woman go get fitted for undergarments? And when I say undergarments, I mean your fupas. And yes, yes, you need to go, no. We call it the foundation, because me and my girlfriend's like, Do you got your foundations on? And I'm like, Y'all know, I don't wear foundations

Sheneka Gunn 9:29
all the time. Yes, yes, yes, I recommend getting fitted, because all the things that's out there, it's sometimes it does not work. You know? It's they show you on the digital and you need to actually put it on your body, put on a garment, and put on the clothing so you can see it actually in life,

Leaha Crawford 9:47
right, right? And then with the garment, well, let's talk about it. How does a foundation? How is it supposed to fit

Sheneka Gunn 9:54
when you want to hide those type of things that. You're trying to work on. You want to have a fitted garment. You don't want anything that's going to make rolls come but you just want to make it solid, you know. So like, if a woman has a low midriff, I always go back to the old school. I use saran wrap, you know, and then I put on the garment of choice.

Leaha Crawford 10:20
See, now we have no saran wrap in the store, because all the women gonna be in here saran wrap, and you won't see them rapping, but that's, that's old school.

Sheneka Gunn 10:27
Old school works, you know, if you ain't got that money, because sometimes those undergarments can be very costly. They are very costly. Yeah, you know, even I found myself back in the day when I was trying to get there, I even wrapped my legs. I even wrap my legs and put some stockings on. You know, you just got to use your imagination on when you trying to get to where you're trying

Leaha Crawford 10:47
to go to. Well, the interesting part of that is, like, for me, because I've been wearing girdles, because, back then it was girdles. My grandmother bought me my first girdle when I was about 13 years old. Yes, and I was sitting there because I'm like Gloria did. She bought me a girl at 13. She bought me a man. But she bought it because she just said, I need you to understand that before people just think you put your, you know, your underwear on. And she was like, No, you have to put on. As a woman, you put on your foundation before you put your clothes on. And you can really notice the difference, because sometimes I wear them and sometimes I don't. I got a whole drawer full of them, and I'm like, Yeah, I'm not doing that today. Yeah, I'm not doing that today. Because what I what I did find, is I found one, because my problem was going to the bathroom with some others, and yeah, because you depending on which one you get, so I had to find one. Oh, yeah. How do you well? But because, depending on which one you get, but you have to find one. I found one that was made for men because men wear them. Oh, really. And I found one that was made for when men because the slit was longer. Yes, the slit was longer, but it still had the same and actually it was a little bit tighter for men than the one I would Yeah, and who would have thought? Yeah, I just who would have thought. And it was just one day my girlfriend me and my girlfriend I was, I was somewhere, and I saw a man, and I touched. I was like, I love. And he told me where he went. Well, she told me where she went and Taylor they can be, they can be. But he, she told me where she went and I went, and I was like, Oh, this thing is fabulous. Yes, indeed, it was costly, though. Yeah, so you're right. So what? So what? What if I want to go to, let's say a target or a Walmart. Should I try on one first or, well, they don't let you try those on, yeah. How can I size myself? Just to get, I mean, just an inexpensive one, yeah.

Sheneka Gunn 12:40
So what you need to do, you need to look at the sizing chart, okay? And that's where you start from there. And I'm glad that you're speaking about that, because I actually designed one and, and I know what you're talking about, how it comes all the way down to the bottom of your gut, and that's how I designed it. And I designed it, it where it zipped all the way up, and it has the straps, and people I was wearing it, and people didn't even know that I was wearing it, and I and it's made with a solid material.

Leaha Crawford 13:08
So the material is everything. Is everything. So let me ask you this, though, because we were, I was talking to a young lady about material, and she was like, Leah, sometimes, like she was, she wanted to do athletic wear. And I'm like, Well, can you get the athletic wear material at the material store? She was like, No, you got a specialty order.

Sheneka Gunn 13:24
You have to specially order. You have to do your research, okay?

Julian Rosado 13:28
Because you have to be able to sweat through it, yeah.

Sheneka Gunn 13:31
And you want to use the type of material that would create sweat. Because, as you know, the journey of when you trying to bind those, buy those garments, you buy those thin ones, and it really does not, doesn't do any, no. You need some things that give you friction. It needs some, some something that's going to hold even when you're working out in your workout leg pants, right? You need something that's going to hold that thigh while you working out, so it can inform, you know? So you want to get something that's going to have some formality to it and have some strength to it. Nothing that's loose.

Leaha Crawford 14:04
Okay, so you are listening to growth and grace. I am Leah Crawford. This is Julian rosone, and today we talking about clothes, baby, we talking about the clothes and the in the clothes business. And we have cutesy boutique on here, miss janika Gunn, who is the founder, just talking about the fashion what she does, and getting clothes for plus size women, I love it. So when you because a lot of times when you saw the clothes for plus size women, they were not flattering,

Sheneka Gunn 14:28
no, no, no, no, and because they offer it on the regular size so what has happened is sometimes the material the reason why they had shied off, because it does cost more to add more material on it. And then they're starting to see, well, the regular sized person will wear that garment one time, but a plus size will wear it more than once, and then they'll come back because it's intriguing. It's taking them out of that atmosphere of the same, same so they starting to. Go into the plus size customers because they spend money because they want to look good. That's right. They want to look good. That's right. I always think of when I saw Monique, her movie, and when I look at as I'm going to my through my journey, I always go to that movie because she set a precedence of what plus size ladies can do. So I really enjoyed that fiction movie, but it brought reality on the scene as

Leaha Crawford 15:27
well, right, right? Because being plus size is not, I mean, it is what it is, it is what it is, it is

Sheneka Gunn 15:33
what it and you can still look good. You

Leaha Crawford 15:35
look frumpy, no?

Sheneka Gunn 15:37
And then you do have those women that feels totally confident, and I'll be like, go

Leaha Crawford 15:42
ahead, honey child, the roles and everything they show, everything,

Sheneka Gunn 15:46
everything, everything and that. And I don't hate on those women, but for the women that likes to make sure everything's together, I'm your girl. I'm here to make sure that you could come to me, and I'll make sure you look good at all. You have a contact number. Yes, it's 702-608-1540 say it again, 702-608-1540

Leaha Crawford 16:10
All right. So what is like? Okay, so when you're so someone comes into the boutique, yes, and they're looking for, let's say they're going on a vacation. How long? What's the longest you've had somebody in there trying on clothes, just trying to get ready for just a day or a short trip?

Sheneka Gunn 16:26
I say two hours. Because one thing, when you come in my shop, we have fun. I we play dress up, you know, because it's so many unique pieces. One thing like, I say, I'm a believer. My pastor, he did speak about when covid had happened, that God was going to create an atmosphere where people are going to come to you, because none of the other stores will have it. And so then I started going in my box, in my head, to say, I got to provide unique pieces, okay? And so that's what makes you stay longer in the store. Sometimes I have a problem, and I stay in the store a lot. My husband, like you done brought something else home from the store, yes. And then women, when I do wear things that I've tucked away, they be like, Where was this at? I say this in the story because it's a variety in the store, okay? And that's what makes me unique. And I just love to keep that thing going on about uniqueness in the store. Got it. How often do you go shopping? I like to say, well, before covid And before the new stuff that's happening in the atmosphere, with the tariffs, I would change a lot, okay? And like, right now, I have to spank my hands sometimes because I'm sitting on a few items that I would like to get rid of because I'm getting ready to go into convention mode. So I would like to say every three, three to four weeks, I switch up, because right now, things are kind of moving slow, but I do switch up a lot though.

Leaha Crawford 17:55
No, I love it, because I know that's what my grandmother you talk about, play dress up. My grandmother used to do that with us all the time. And we would go whenever we would go shopping or go out and buy something. We had to come home and try it on, yes, and we had to do the fashion show, yeah. So fashion show. And it was funny because I had, you know, how you growing up, like, oh, and being a teenager, I'm not doing it anymore, but just the fun end, you know, she would like, you know, come on, let's play dress up. No, let's go put the makeup on and we just going to, we just gonna play

Sheneka Gunn 18:24
dress up. Yes, yes. One thing my mom, I have to give it up. That's how I got into the business, because my mom, she was in the business, and she started in, and she used to sell body magics, okay, yes. So yes, I know about those inspiration, yes. Oh, that's my inspiration. As a young kid, I used to play dress up with her in her heels. And my mom used to say, no matter what you're doing in your house, when you get older, you better put that ruby red lipstick on and comb that hair. And it doesn't matter if you're not going anywhere, just please be presentable if anybody

Julian Rosado 18:56
very, very good point. That's a very, very good point.

Leaha Crawford 18:59
You say that again? No, honestly, because I think that sometimes I think we've lost that. Yes, a lot of us, because I watch, sometimes we go, people go to the grocery I'm like, Oh, my grandmother would have Oh,

Leaha Crawford 19:17
because it's one of those things when we just don't care about our appearance, what we look like, like? I might not put the ruby red on in the house, but when I walk out the door, because I don't wear makeup, and you look fabulous well and but my grandmother, no, but my grandmother was full face of makeup. You know, I was like, Well, did you wake up like this? But I have it, though, because I know how to do it. And she was big on learning how to walk in heels, yes, and people are shocked. It's like, Lee, you know how to walk in heels? Yeah, I do. I do. I don't often, but I do.

Sheneka Gunn 19:50
Yes, it's something about a hill that makes you flex. It does you

Leaha Crawford 19:54
want to. It does. And I'm happy that she taught me how to purr. Purchase this, because that was the other thing. Because I think a lot of times when people talk about their like, My feet don't hurt, none of the heels I have. How do you purchase them? Oh, it's a whole. It's a whole. No, honestly, when you go to purchase shoes, no matter whether you're in the $10 the all shoes $12 or if you're at a high end mall, you have to try them on. You have to walk in them. And you have to, when I say walk, I mean, you walking around, up and down the aisle, turn your feet a certain way. If you know your feet swell up, try to go around the time when your feet are swollen. So you can try to shoe on, because you want to make sure that the shoe was always comfortable. Because when, and if you buy it, because when I buy shoes, if they're a little bit too big, you can put something in them, but you really can't do a lot if your shoe was too small. No, you get them corn. Get them corn. Like I don't have corn. That's you just spoke a word because people, women like to wear sandals. Yes, you can't have horns on your feet when you

Julian Rosado 21:01
know, well, you could

Leaha Crawford 21:04
they go and get that surgery. I don't hate on it. I don't hate on it. No, I don't hate on it, but it's but it is learning how to buy shoes. Yes, yes, learning how to buy shoes and buying shoes that fit your feet, that fit your feet, because everybody's foot is not the same. Some people have very narrow feet, like, I'm like, Birkenstock is one of my favorites. It is because it comes in the narrow, the medium and the wide, and you can get your side, by your side, just by your side, yeah?

Julian Rosado 21:31
Remember one time we went to a show that my girlfriend, she was like, you're like, what's wrong? Why are you so angry? She's like, I gotta take these damn shoes.

Sheneka Gunn 21:37
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuz you have those 30 minute shoes. You got that hour shoe, and then you just got them 10 Minute shoes,

Julian Rosado 21:45
and it ruined her whole experience. No, when your feet hurt, yeah, it's a wrap.

Leaha Crawford 21:52
And especially, like, say, if you're going to an event at one of the casinos, it's a long walk. You know, some women, like, I have flats. Sometimes I'll put on flats and change my shoes, just whatever I'm be feeling like, being creative

Julian Rosado 22:06
today, escalator. She was like, Can you hold my hand? Oh, man, like, these shoes really

Leaha Crawford 22:11
hurt, yeah, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of, a lot of shoes hurt a lot. You got to buy them in your size, all right, so two hours in the boutique,

Sheneka Gunn 22:19
yes, two hours in a boutique, and we just have fun. And, you know, they they be like, Oh, I got to get out of here. Yeah, they, Oh, there's sometimes people can't even get in the front door to be like, I got to stay right here in the front and I can't go look no more. So that makes me happy, because then that lets me know I'm in that right era or where I'm supposed to be at. And because, as a entrepreneur, you constantly just hitting the pavement, hitting the pavement, and when you hear the applause from your consumers and customers, it really does your heart good, because that's what you aiming for. What was the spark to make you get into this? My mother, my mother, Deborah, and then my father, who always, has always pushed me, and you got to have that support. That support is a must. And so she's all I'm gonna show y'all picture of my mom once we finish, and you're gonna see why

Leaha Crawford 23:13
I love it. I love it. So you're also fashion editor for some magazine. Yes, let's talk about that. How? Did that come to be God? I do want to know what

Sheneka Gunn 23:24
I love it. I have to give it to him, because he's the one that's directed my path. I got connected to some other people. Number one, it all started in 2024 when my boutique I featured on the TV show, love after lockup. And then from there, just, God has just been exposing me to other, other avenues that he likes for me to be in. And then I connected with this guy, Tony, and he saw what I was doing, and he loved what I was doing. And he was like, he said, he called me this, how he did it. He was like, oh, yeah, I need to call you and let you know I made you my fashion editor. He had already mocked it up, put it up, and he says, Well, I gotta call you. And so that's not

Leaha Crawford 24:03
happening, not I gotta call you. I didn't already put you in the book. Already wrote it up, and you are.

Sheneka Gunn 24:08
He already wrote it up everything. He has sent it to me. He was like, Yeah, so right there alone, like I said, it's God driven, and it lets me know I'm in that right moment and the right spot.

Leaha Crawford 24:19
So you would, you'd like to do like, and let's put it out there you want to do like because movies, they do fashion for movies.

Sheneka Gunn 24:25
Absolutely, that's what I'm aiming for. Not only am I fashion editor, I also have connect ties with Hollywood times and aspiring magazine with the Emmys and the stars. So one incident, a celebrity photographer had did some shots, and he was showing this actress my styles. Well, she liked it. They contacted me and they put her on the front of the magazine, a rope magazine out of California, an inspiring magazine, Miss Cynthia Hudson. She connected me to be featured in her magazine. And I like to give. Shout out to diamond VIP. Like I said in your journey, I'm a believer. He will send someone that will you will know nothing about, and you just have to talk, and you have to let them know what you need. And when he send that person, they're gonna say, Okay, I got an opportunity to be in a magazine. It costs, right? I have myself bogged down in what I'm doing in my business and and taking care of the business of my husband and my family. We was going to try to get it done. Well, I fell short on it, and I ran into someone who I don't even know. He came and shocked at my boot, and he came in my boutique one day, and he we broke bread with each other on spirituality. And he was like, Have you ever thought of something something, and then I had got this other opportunity. And I said, Well, I did get an opportunity to put be in a magazine. He says, Okay, how much I gave him the price? He said, Okay, do it just like that?

Leaha Crawford 25:53
But the thing about it is, have amazing it happens. That's how it happens. That's how it happens. And I you because I've had that happen several times. That's how it happens. Yeah, as long as you walk in the right walk, and

Sheneka Gunn 26:05
that's how and from there, it has opened other doors, from other doors. Each journey that I get an opportunity to do, it's just another.to connect me to the other.to connect to other.so for me to say to the ones that's out there, keep on pushing and just keep on believing and don't have a hard heart when those no's come at you. No, actually be grateful for him, because he might be saving you from something. That's it. It's a part of the process. It's a part of the process. No was a part of the process. I'm a firm believer. Yes, I am. But it's

Leaha Crawford 26:37
hard when you get the nose, or when you lose clients, or when you lose customers, or it's hard, yeah, but I've learned to bless them and send them away,

I'm here for you. Yes, and I and move on, yes, because you're here to you. Come on. It's all about what he sees. So by you being nasty to somebody, it's not gonna get you anywhere, because you're gonna need him to keep pushing you. Because this is a cutthroat world. This is a nasty world,

honestly, and people say that, and I'm gonna say, I just, I mean, I understand, but I disagree, because my world, I like, like Julian said, when people come into my office, he was sitting there. He was like, everybody coming here, they and I was like, because this right? This, this is a, this is a blessed place, baby. That's right, we pray through this office on a regular basis. Yes, yes, yes. And then I can I just mention a couple of things. Okay, so LV mode magazine, I am launching that during this spring, okay? And it's going to be featuring things that's happening in Las Vegas. And I not going to tell who's going to be on the front of the magazine, because it's a secret. I also did have the mayor come shop with me in 2025 okay, like I said, I've been featuring seven magazines in 2025 and then LV mo will be just talking about things that's happening in Las Vegas, food, fashion and music. And then I also work with the scholarship Miss Juneteenth scholarship program, and we're looking for young girls to pour into and to see if we can get some funding for scholarships. I appreciate it. And then we also, you know, come on, I also do toy drives with this year, God allowed me to do my own toy drive. And so next year, I mean this year, I mean last year, I mean to say we're going to be even bigger and better. And so I'm just connect

This is Julian. Hey, this is the end of our show, and y'all know my E, A, G, L, E, S, it's okay. I'm still, but I'm not, look here. I'm still. I'm still Eagles fan. I don't care, even though I'm rooting for the Seahawks, another bird. See Seahawks, another bird, another bird. That's my logic. It's another bird. All right, y'all until next week. Until next week. Peace and blessings. Bye. You.
